A person’s name written in a distinctive way as a form of identification in authorizing a check or document or concluding a letter.

-1- Four kinds of signatures:

-1.1- Personal Signatures -Informal 
notes and letters to family and friends; printed or cursive; nickname.

-1.2- Personal Signature – Formal
bank signature; legal signature on driver’s license; car and land titles; usually cursive; birth certificate name.

1.3- Professional Signatures
legal documents as part of employment; formal employment communications; legible; typed name not listed with signature; usually cursive; typically (not always) birth certificate name. 

-1.4- Professional Initials
first letters of first, middle, and last name; usually cursive; quickly performed.
